Human Rights Day - December 10th, Countdown 2025 - Promoting Global Rights and Freedoms
Human Rights Day - December 10th
Human Rights Day is observed every year on December 10th, the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The UDHR is a milestone document that proclaims the inalienable rights which everyone is inherently entitled to as a human being – regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)
The UDHR sets out fundamental human rights to be universally protected. It is composed of 30 articles covering a wide range of civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights. These include the right to life, liberty, and security of person; freedom from slavery and torture; the right to freedom of opinion and expression; the right to work and to education; and many others. The UDHR is a foundational document for international human rights law.
